🌄 Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek – A Short Himalayan Adventure

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of Nepal’s most popular short treks, ideal for travelers with limited time who still want to experience stunning Himalayan panoramas and traditional Gurung culture. The trek leads to Poon Hill (3,210 m), a famous viewpoint offering breathtaking sunrise views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other Himalayan peaks.

This trek passes through beautiful rhododendron forests, quaint villages, and terraced fields, providing a perfect blend of nature, culture, and adventure.


🗓️ Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Itinerary (4 Days)

Day 1: Pokhara to Nayapul, Trek to Tikhedhunga (1,540 m)

  • Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (approx. 1.5 hrs)
  • Start trek to Tikhedhunga through lush landscapes
  • Overnight in Tikhedhunga

Day 2: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,860 m)

  • Steep climb via Ulleri steps (about 3,200 stone steps)
  • Trek through rhododendron and oak forests
  • Overnight in Ghorepani

Day 3: Early Morning Hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m) for Sunrise, Trek to Tadapani (2,630 m)

  • Hike early to Poon Hill for spectacular sunrise views
  • Descend to Ghorepani for breakfast
  • Continue trekking to Tadapani through forests and villages
  • Overnight in Tadapani

Day 4: Tadapani to Nayapul, Drive back to Pokhara

  • Trek downhill to Nayapul
  • Drive back to Pokhara
  • Trek ends

  • Trek is moderate and suitable for beginners and families
  • Best seasons: Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November)
  • Permits required: Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and TIMS card
